The Labour Party said today that it was disappointed and concerned that SR Technics had decided to postpone its plans 'to invest' in Malta.
It was announced last week that the aircraft maintenance company had postponed plans to build a hangar until the international aviation market recovered. It is currently working from another hangar made available to it by the government.
Charles Mangion, PL spokesman for economic affairs, said SRT had announced its investment in 2009, when the aviation sector already faced problems. There was therefore need for explanation and analysis as to why it had changed its decision.
It was important that this sector continued to be protected in order to continue to offer job opportunities.
He said an explanation was needed as to why the company had decided in this way after been given what it sought from the Maltese government.
