With The Eagles on a break after a busy touring schedule last year, Don Henley is currently in the studio working on his next solo album, which is said to be a collection of country covers.

According to reports on an Eagles fansite, Henley was in Nashville last week to work on the record with producer Stan Lynch, the former drummer for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

The as-yet-untitled album is expected to feature various guest artists.

Country music is not a new area for Henley, given the genre was a vital ingredient in The Eagles’ hybrid rock sound throughout the band’s career.

The country connection was further emphasised with the release of the Common Thread compilation in 1993, whichfeatured various country artists, among them Travis Tritt,Clint Black, Alan Jackson and Tanya Tucker covering songs byThe Eagles.

To date, Henley has recorded four solo albums, namely I Can’t Stand Still (1982), Building the Perfect Beast (1984), The End of the Innocence (1989) and Inside Job (2000).
