Two cargo truck drivers were yesterday charged with stealing more than €19,000 worth of mobile phones from a Maltese man in Italy and then handling the stolen property in Żebbuġ.

David Sciberras, 42, of Żabbar and Glenn David Hillyer, 34, of St Paul’s Bay denied stealing the phones from a Peugeot 407 in Italy between January 8 and 10.

The two also pleaded not guilty to handling stolen property.

Mr Hillyer denied relapsing.

Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna granted them bail against a personal guarantee of €5,000.
