The UEFA Executive Committee was yesterday informed of the list of candidates standing for election at the XXXV Ordinary UEFA Congress on March 22 in Paris.

Malta FA president Norman Darmanin Demajo is among 13 representatives from UEFA’s national associations who have submitted their candidature for election for the seven available seats on the Exco for the four-year period 2011-2015.

Six of the Exco members whose period in office is expiring this year, are seeking re-election. They are Senes Erzik (Turkey), Gilberto Madail (Portugal), Mircea Sandu (Romania), Grigoriy Surkis (Ukraine), Liutauras Varanavicius (Lithuania) and Angel María Villar Llona (Spain).

Joe Mifsud, the former MFA president who has been a member of the UEFA Exco since 1994, is not among the candidates after the local governing body of football put forward Darmanin Demajo’s nomination for the election.

The other six contenders are Francois de Keersmacker (Belgium), Sergey Fursenko (Russia), Peter Gillieron (Switzerland) Ivan Hasek (Czech Republic), Grzegorz Lato (Poland) and Borislav Mihaylov (Bulgaria).
