Tunisian Foreign Minister Kamel Morjane has resigned from his post in the interim unity government amid tense consultations over a Cabinet reshuffle, the state news agency TAP reported yesterday.
“I have decided to renounce my functions of Foreign Minister and I wish success to those who will take part in the government during this period of transition,” Mr Morjane was quoted as saying in a written statement.
US-educated Morjane was discredited because of his family links to ousted President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and has been a leading member of the Constitutional Democratic Rally party, which has dominated Tunisia for decades.
