A 60-year-old inmate was yesterday charged with harassing a former girlfriend last July and threatening to use violence against her over a number of months.

Edgar Bonnici Cachia, of Birkirkara, who is serving time on fraud-related charges, is scheduled to be released this July. In the arraignment yesterday, he pleaded not guilty to the harassment charges and to relapsing and misusing a telephone to threaten the woman. Police Inspectors Raymond Aquilina and Fabian Fleri prosecuted. Lawyer Chris Cardona was defence counsel.
