Israel’s Holocaust Museum, Yad Vashem, launched a YouTube page entirely in Farsi, saying the “channel” would expand global access to “credible information about the Holocaust”.

“The Farsi YouTube channel contains survivor testimonies, archival footage and mini-lectures by Holocaust historians on topics such as contemporary anti-Semitism and what makes the Holocaust a unique historical event,” the museum said in a statement.

“One of our primary goals is to make credible information about the Holocaust accessible to as wide an audience as possible,” Avner Shalev, Yad Vashem’s chairman, said in a statement.

“Today, when there is so much disinformation and distortion easily available online, we provide an alternative to anyone who is interested in the truth,” he added. The statement made no mention of Iran, whose President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has frequently and publicly denied the Holocaust, calling it a “myth”.

Yad Vashem also maintains versions of its website in Hebrew, Arabic, English, Russian and Spanish, making available videos, photos, documents and testimonials by Holocaust survivors.
