A 60-year-old prisoner this morning pleaded not guilty to trying to extort money from a former girlfriend, harassing her, threatening her with violence, misusing a telephone set and relapsing.

Edgar Publius Bonnici Cachia of Birkirkara did not request bail as he is currently in prison serving a jail term for fraud.

He is due for release in July.
