Funeral of Archbishop Gerada held

The funeral of Archbishop Emeritus Emmanuel Gerada was held this afternoon at St John's Co-Cathedral in Valletta.
Archbishop Paul Cremona led the concelebration, assisted by Apostolic Nucio Tommaso Caputo, Gozo Bishop Mario Grech, Archbishop Emeritus Joseph Mercieca, Bishop Emeritus Adeodato Micallef and Vicar-General Mgr Annetto Depasquale.
President George Abela, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and Opposition leader Joseph Muscat led the congregation.
Mgr Gerada passed away on Friday, aged 90. He was auxiliary bishop to Archbishop Michael Gonzi between 1967 and 1973, after which he resumed his diplomatic career with the Holy See.

It seems that the media this aftenoon relegated Mons Gerada's funeral to a second place on the news list. I think he should have had precedence.

If it was not for Archbishop Gerada, the Maltese people would still be living in the hatred that the interdict, which was introduced by bishop Gonzi during the political-religious dispute in the 60's,brought in the Maltese society. There were alot of people who didn't like what Arbishop Gerada done in those days, l'm sure that there are many around the world that are very grateful towards him. l expected that the Maltese people in general should have shown some more respect and gratitude on his last journey, but a big part of the local media focused on other activities! Could it be a coincidence??????????? I bet it WASN'T AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!
