A badly decomposed corpse wearing a life jacket was brought ashore yesterday morning after a search by the armed forces.

The corpse had been spotted off Fawwara by a fisherman on Sunday afternoon but the search was suspended at night fall.

The body was found in one of the caves below Dingli Cliffs at 10.15 a.m.

The person’s identity and gender have not yet been established.

Informed sources said the body was in an advanced stage of decomposition.
