Old telephone box vandalised

An old red telephone box at the top of Dingli Street in Sliema has been targeted by vandals.

The Sliema Heritage Society said the telephone box, which is at least 50 years old, had his timber door ripped off at the hinges and the closing mechanism was broken.

Phone boxes of this type are classed as Grade 2 national monuments.

The society condemned the vandalism and hoped the telephone box would be restored and the vandals apprehended.

Sliema council also condemned the incident. The vandalism took place in the early hours of Saturday.

You always blame "the authorithies" for all that's wrong in society. An easy way to shed responsibilities.

Are you real? There are things you learn at home. The Government does not form children parents do!!

I am not surprised with your comment... Earlier this week people blamed the government because it rained and the roads were wet! How can they allow such incidents!

blame yourself and not the authorities. Unless there is cooperation the authorities can absolutely do nothing except pray. How very easy to pinthe blame on the authorities. And what are you doing in favour of your own locality? Gossiping about 'this' and 'that' in the local caffe'? Better gossip on who the vandals may be and try to get him.

Pretty pointless sending a carpenter to mend a cast iron structure.

Cast iron????? hahaahaha

"had his timber door ripped off" Timberrrrr......the door can easily be repaired by a carpenter, and he can also change the only thing that is made in metal...ie. the hinges!

Shall we sell off all our Roman, Knights of St John and other foreign remains too, so we can forget our history? Perhaps we should demolish the temples too, as the temple-builders were not genetically our ancestors. Great idea...

Do I sense a hint envy-driven anti-Slimizi sentiment?
