People either love or hate the 1980s, but Malta seems to have more of the former, as parties celebrating the sounds of that decade continue to spring up all over the island.

Think Funky Town, The Heat is On and tons of other instant hits that dominated the charts, airwaves and dancefloors way back when fluorescent jewellery, mullets and legwarmers were all the rage.

Though none of these are obligatory, everyone is encouraged to go a little 1980s fashion-crazy for the Polyteknik 1980s party, a fundraising event being organised by Salesian Pastoral Youth Service in aid of the refurbishment project at St Patrick’s Boys’ residence in Sliema.

The party will be held on February 12 at Amazonia Beach Club in Qawra. DJs Bob and Geez will be spinning the tunes from 9 p.m. till late.
