Sorry state of Valletta street

A couple of months ago the entire length of lower Republic Street, Valletta, was resurfaced.

However, the side streets were not given the same facelift. St Nicholas Street, in particular, is in a sorry state, with broken pavements, potholes and long stretches of exposed gravel (see picture). This applies especially to the part between Republic Street and Old Bakery Street.

This is causing great inconvenience to residents, most of whom are elderly people prone to accidents. Despite repeated calls by a number of elderly residents to the helpline recently announced by Parliamentary Secretary Mario Galea, this street has not been seen to.
