A 30-hour course in community development is being held between February 4 and April 8, with lectures held on Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m. at the University Residence, Robert MifsudBonnici Street, Lija.

The course will attempt to help participants understand the various factors that contribute towards having healthy communities.

The aim of this course is also to reflect on the theory but also work on strategies that can be applied to the respective contexts the participants come from.

This course is intended for those working or planning to work in the community, members of voluntary organisations, community workers/developers, NGO staff, civil society organisations staff and volunteers, social workers, youth and community workers, social, environmental and political activists, educators, local council employees, social co-operative members, cultural operators, social operators, policy makers, fair trade proponents, community health workers, community leaders and opinion makers.

Themes include: identity negotiation and community profiling; contemporary issues in community development; working towards change; community work; public space; social cohesion and regeneration; inclusive communities and minorities; citizenship participation and education; environment, climate change and sustainable development; governance and economic and social justice.
