Communications group Go plc has announced the appointment of Vanessa Macdonald as manager of Public and Media Relations and Corporate Communications.
Ms Macdonald is to relinquish the editorship of Go’s news portal Di-ve.com, which she has held since May 2008, after a hand-over has been completed.
She replaces Franco Aloisio who leaves the company after four years.
Ms Macdonald has been a journalist since 1993, having first worked with Island Sound Radio for a brief period before moving to The Times, where she was the head of news for numerous years and eventually business editor. She is a well-known freelance writer and media personality.
Go chief executive officer David Kay said Ms Macdonald’s extensive contacts with the business community and the social partners besides her high public profile will be assets to her in this key position, where she will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, customers, staff and shareholders.
