Participation in international events features high on the agenda of Paola Hibs.

After becoming the first Maltese club to take part in the CEV Challenge Cup competition earlier this season, Paola Hibs have just visited Rosarno in Calabria to take part in a friendly tournament.

The invitation came from Italian side 5Frondi. A team from the nearby region of Goiosa also took part in the tournament.

5Frondi have a very strong squad replete with semi-professional players and as such, it was no surprise that the Paolites found the going tough and succumbed to a 3–0 defeat.

Against Goiosa, the Maltese players gave a very good account of themselves, beating the Calabrian side to end the tournament on a positive note.

In a statement, Paola Hibs said that these international commitments are proving beneficial for the local champions as playing against foreign opposition has increased the players’ motivation to meet further challenges.

Paola Hibs are the current leaders of the local women’s league, having won all their games so far.
