A lotto receiver was robbed by an armed and hooded man at a lotto office in Victory Street, Qormi, this afternoon.

The incident took place at about 1.45 p.m.

Wednesdays are particularly busy days for lotto receivers because of the Super 5 draw. However the amount that was stolen is believed to have been small.

No one was injured.

Informed sources said the lotto receiver was the mother of Patrizio Parascandolo, who last week was hailed as a hero when he foiled a hold-up at his shop in Zebbug. His actions led to the arrest of a man who was subsequently accused of a string of hold-ups.
