Inconsistent speed limits on roads to Mellieħa

It is pleasing to note that the authority responsible for road signs and speed limits has now included a de-restriction sign, indicating a maximum speed of 80 kph, on the St Paul’s Bay bypass from the Xemxija roundabout to the Burmarrad roundabout.

It is pleasing to note that the authority responsible for road signs and speed limits has now included a de-restriction sign, indicating a maximum speed of 80 kph, on the St Paul’s Bay bypass from the Xemxija roundabout to the Burmarrad roundabout. Well done!

However, the same authority appears not to have changed the speed limit from Xemxija Bay to the Mellieħa roundabout and the Mellieħa bypass in particular.

The maximum speed from Xemxija Bay shows a limit of 45 kph, painted on the road surface, and which does not change in any way at all as far as I am aware.

This means that there is only a maximum speed along the Mellieħa bypass of 45 kph, which is rubbish.

Since this is surely incorrect, I would further suggest that the relevant authority responsible for road signs and designated speed limits is made aware of this farce and makes suitable corrections so that drivers of vehicles are in no way put in any embarrassing positions due to the inefficiencies of the said authority.
