Focus on consultation at PL general conference

Labour MPs will have a question-and-answer session with party delegates as part of the annual general conference which will be held at the end of the month.

Party President Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi said the general conference would be held between January 31 and February 6. The theme is - The country our children deserve.

He said the same model as last year would be followed, the focus being on dialogue between the party administration, delegates and NGOs.

The question and answer session, which will also feature party leader Joseph Muscat and MEPs, will be held immediately before the conference session, in the form of workshops.

There will also be workshops on the conference theme. They will be organised by the party's sections.

Following changes to the statute last year, the only election this year will be for the party executive. Voting for the administration is being held every two years.

Party deputy leader Toni Abela said the purpose of the general conference was 'participation and consultation'.

Motions to be presented to the conference would be published closer to the date. He said that unlike other parties, the PL's accounts would also be open for scrutiny.
