Short course in natural history by Nature Trust

A course on Maltese national heritage organised by Nature Trust (Malta) consisting of five two-hour lectures and two site visits will begin on February 24 and March 24.

Lectures will be held on Thursdays at the Nature Trust premises in Wied Għollieqa Environment Centre at the University, between 5.45 and 7.45 p.m.

Site visits will take place on Saturday afternoons at Wied Magħlaq (next to Għar Lapsi) and at the Majjistral Heritage Park.

The course will attempt to give an overview of the uniqueness of the Mediterranean Sea and its palaeogeography.

It will explore local floral and faunal diversity, Malta’s geological assets, and the coastal and marine environments endowing the islands.

The course coordinator is Alan Deidun. Course lecturers include Sandro Lanfanco, Arnold Sciberras and Jeffrey Sciberras. Site visits will be led by qualified guide Annalise Falzon.

The course is open to any participant and applicants do not require any prior academic qualifications.

Participants can choose to apply for lectures only or both lectures and site visits, and special fees are being reserved for students and members of NGOs.

Participants will receive digital synoptic notes, a course attendance certificate and a Nature Trust membership.

Students can pay using their Smart Card.
