The Tal-Barrani incidents of 1986, when PN supporters were prevented from holding a Mass meeting at Zejtun, were a distant memory this morning as Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi made a visit to the Zejtun Labour Party Club.

He was warmly greeted by deputy leader Toni Abela and spoke on how this was the Year of Voluntary Work, and that included the voluntary work done by many people involved in politics.

It was normal and proper that people should have different views, Dr Gonzi said, but the common thread should be that they were all motivated by their mission to seek the best for their country.

He urged all to appreciate what was good in the country.

Dr Gonzi also visited the locality's band clubs and the Scouts' quarters before delivering an address at the Nationalist Party club.
