Couple held after drug find

A man and a woman are under arrest following the discovery of drugs late yesterday afternoon in a house in Gzira.

A raid was carried out after days of surveillance following reports of drug trafficking, the police said.

The officers found cocaine in packets ready to be sold, as well other amounts of cannabis and items related to drug use.

The arrested persons are a 32-year-old man who is already well known to the police for aggravated theft and drug-trafficking, and a 30-year-old woman who lives with him.

Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani is holding an inquiry.
