Bank of Valletta is to invest €13 million to upgrade IT systems this year, chief executive officer Tonio Depasquale said at the opening of a new €1.7 million branch in Buġibba last Thursday.
Situated in Triq il-Ħalel, the branch offered the full range of BoV’s banking and investment services, including a state-of-the-art ATM.
“The €1.7 million invested in this branch clearly demonstrates the bank’s drive to work closer with the Maltese community and to strengthen our commitment to the success of our clients. In addition, this year the bank will be making a capital expenditure of €13 million towards upgraded IT systems,” Mr Depasquale said.
He stressed how branches remained Bank of Valletta’s most important service delivery channel. Every development was based on the latest technology to strengthen the service provided by the branch network rather than substitute it.
The chief executive pointed out the client remained atthe core of all Bank of Valletta’sactivities and all customer-facing processes were upgradedconstantly.
Designed to reflect Bank ofValletta’s brand standards, the branch’s layout ensured customers were able to enjoy personalised service in a private environment. It opened to customers yesterday; Claudia Chetcuti is branchmanager.
The branch was officially inaugurated by Finance Minister Tonio Fenech in the presence of bank chairman Roderick Chalmers.
Mr Fenech highlighted theMaltese banking system’s resilience during the international financial crisis, which had proven to be an important contributor to the country’s competitiveness, essential to attract more investment and jobs to Malta.
