The first BOV Premier League programme for 2011 brought a spate of suspensions as no fewer than seven players were banned for one game yesterday.
Birkirkara duo Paul Fenech and Angus Buhagiar have been ruled out of the champions’ game against Marsaxlokk on Saturday after both collected their fourth yellow card in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Valletta.
The Citizens will be without regular goalkeeper Andrew Hogg for their top-of-the-table encounter with Tarxien Rainbows. Hogg received his fourth caution in Saturday’s win over Birkirkara.
Strugglers Vittoriosa Stars will be without three first-choice players for their match against Floriana on Sunday.
Forward Edison has been banned one match following his red card in the 4-3 defeat to Sliema Wanderers while Jeffrey Chetcuti and Stephen Wellman have been suspended for four yellow cards.
Sliema defender Josef Mifsud will miss his team’s clash with fellow top-six hopefuls Qormi on Saturday after earning his fourth booking in Sunday’s win over Vittoriosa.
