Patches of fog masked the south-eastern parts of Malta including Malta International Airport this morning, reducing visibility to barely 100m.

The MIA Met Office said the fog formed due to high humidity close to the much cooler ground between 7.15 and 8.15 a.m., after which it started to dissipate rapidly.

A spokesman for the airport said flights were not affected, but the airport authorities took extra safety precautions.
