Cash stolen in Zebbug hold-up
Around 400 euros were stolen from a shop in Zebbug by an armed and hooded person this afternoon. No one was injured
The police said the thief entered the shop, in Mgr Milanesi Street, and asked the salesgirl for money. He escaped with the cash. .
Duty magistrate Edwina Grima is holding an inquiry.
A grocery was similarly held up in Zebbug last week.

The last time I went to Zebbug Police Station I was told that although Siggiewi and Zebbug has grown in population, Zebbug Police Station is still with one Inspector responsible of both area to cover. No wonder it is common to have it closed.
With no intent to politicize the situation, is will be interesting to remember that parliamentarian increase, how much would have done if that money was applied to the Police Force and the community rather then to a handful.

Addio ''Malta Fior del Mondo''.
It's not yet 'Chicago' but unfortunately, solely, solely, we are getting there.

Where is the police? That's the big question...What measures did the police take? If we don't want self justice, I ask were is justice. Zebbug, became the farse of Malta were criminals lords and the law is reduced to nill. We want answers from the Police Commissionar, or from the Prime Minister or the Minister of Justice.
This is no more acceptable in Zebbug...We must take a stand...Criminals have no place in Zebbug...Anyone who knows something speak now.

There are not enough police to patrol our streets but when a pump goes missing half the police force , including the commisioner if im not mistaken ,is at the scene. These peorsons will only be sought after seriosly only after we have a killing.

This person/s need the same treatment as what happened to the guys who robbed the jewelers, that is to end up getting shot and screaming in pain till the police come. But instead of being taken to hospital they should be left in pain in a jail cell.

2 police on foot patrols in each village are needed during day and night urgently
this used to happen in the 1970's, why can't we do it now
come on please, get out of your stations and do some useful work

GUN RIGHTS...NOW!
Michael Spiteri

How do you know he was carrying a gun? A weapon could be anything from a kitchen knife to a high-tech missile.

Just in case you have not checked any maps lately, Malta falls EAST of Greenwich, meaning it is very far from the (Wild) West you so much yearn.

Yeah, that'll solve the problem....NOT
Giving gun rights to citizens will only help to spiral the problem beyond the authorities' control.
Look at what happens in America on a daily basis.....only yesterday congresswoman Giffords was shot in the head and other members of her entourage killed.....not to mention a 9 year old bystander girl.
Also, destroying all guns in Malta shall only prompt similar cowards to continue doing so at knife point....so that won't help either.
What will help is tougher sentences where getting a five year sentence means doing 1825 consecutive days in jail/community service and not being released after a couple of years for "good behaviour".

Yes Mr. Spiteri, guns right now.
What's nicer than having an 'OK Coral' shootout.
The shop owner and family shooting from behind the counter and the bad guys shooting back from behind the food racks.
Pity about the customers, they were caught inbetween. Too bad.....

It seems it's always the same person: every time by himself and hooded. Since, according to the Police, he succeeded in gettng only a minimal sum when he held up the grocer at the beginning of the week, it was evident that he would hold up a salesperson in another shop within days! Where are the police and their bright brains, if any?

About a month ago, these criminals were roaming the streets and making hold ups in B'Kara. It appears that they have now changed venue of business and moved from B'Kara to Zebbug

There seems to be at least 1 hold-up a week in such a small island.
The courts should make a huge example of the next person/s caught and give them an over excessive punishment, like life in prison.
Shame there isnt the death penalty.

Yes like they did in this case: "Suspended jail term for man who assaulted officer".
Check out the article. Such a safe place to be.......for how long??????????

How about having a Police Mobile Squad car doing rounds in villages and towns.
Part of the expense should be shouldered by the Local Councils...after all most Local Councils can afford two or more wardens who bring in much revenue from traffic fines.
A Police presence is always a deterrent for these types of crimes.

the Police need to be a bit more creative and aggressive then they are being at the moment or someone will get hurt very soon. how about trying to work out which shop is next? The area is always the same i.e Zebbug, the targets are all the same- small shops and the timing is also always in the after noon. The americans used this formula to catch famous bank robbers.(read mind hunter by John douglas)
but do we see a police patrol in Zebbug ? NO. of course it helps if you are willing to catch the culprit first.

It's incredible !!!!!!
What are the authorities doing about this spike in criminality in Zebbug? This has been the n th holup or theft in Zebbug in the past months.
It seems that the criminals are much more organized than the authorities!
Action please and NOW !

Of course crime is on the increase when you consider most criminals are either on bail or with a suspended sentence.
