The police have filed charges against around 230 people involved in licence fraud.

Police sources said these people include three Transport Malta officials – two men and a woman, who allegedly received payment to hand out licences that would allow their holders to drive a truck or motorbike, for example.

The charges range from complicity in the falsification of licences, making a false declaration, taking a false oath and corruption.

The people will be arraigned under summons, which have already been issued. Police investigations have been ongoing since before summer.
