Roma’s Brazilian striker Adriano indicated that he is eyeing a return to Rio de Janeiro club Flamengo this year.

In an interview published this week in the O Dia newspaper, the player said that he wanted to follow his heart back to Brazil.

“A part of my heart remains in Brazil. However, I have to respect my commitments. But I’ll be back in June despite a two-and-a-half year contract (with Roma),” said Adriano before returning to Italy after extending his Christmas break by five days.

“As I’m a professional I’m leaving to present myself but I’ll be back in June.”

Adriano said that Milan’s Ronaldinho, with whom he dined on Sunday, had asked his advice about playing for Flamengo.

Brazilian international Ronaldinho is due to end his career with Milan after a training camp planned in Dubai, coach Massimiliano Allegri said at the weekend.

“I told him: You want to be happy? Come to Flamengo. It’s a dream to play here. He asked me what I thought, I told him to come. A time comes when money isn’t everything,” Adriano said.

Ronaldinho is reportedly poised to return to his homeland to re-join formative club Gremio or Flamengo.
