Montenegrin waterpolo super star Vladimir Gojkovic, who only recently retired from his national team, will be playing for Malta champions Neptunes next summer. He replaces Vladimir Vujasinovic as the second foreigner at the Balluta Bay club.
Gojkovic has vast international experience having been a member of the Montenegro national team at the 2008 Olympic Games. In the tournament in Beijing, Montenegro were beaten in the semi-finals by Hungary.
In the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Gojkovic won a silver medal as a member of the Serbia and Montenegro team.
Gojkovic was also a kingpin of the Montenegro side that won the 2008 European Championship which was played in Malaga. His retirement from the national team has left many administrators and supporters in Montenegro baffled.
Captain of the Montenegrin champions Jadran Herceg Novi, 6ft2in tall Gojkovic weighs 92kg and was born on January 29, 1981 in Kotor, Montenegro. He also played for top Russian side Sintez Kazan in his club career.
