RTK is organising an open day at Dar tal-Providenza for the 15th consecutive year tomorrow. The home relies on its benefactors and public donations to raise €13,000 daily to live up to its mission.

The marathon, running between 9 a.m. and midnight, will provide a welcome respite to the financial pressure of €4.75 million yearly.

Set up 45 years ago, the residential home helps disabled people to develop their abilities in order to integrate in society.

An exhibition has been set up to commemorate the 100 years from the home’s founder Mgr Mikiel Azzopardi’s birth. Visitors will also be taken on a guided tour of the complex.

The event starts off with Mass in the home’s chapel, while local singers, dancers and bands will take part in a 15-hour marathon held in a tent in the parking area of Dar tal-Providenza.

Donations can be made through the following numbers and service providers: Go: €7, 5004 9363; €12, 5004 9365; €23, 5004 9360, and Melita: €15, 5003 6 815. To donate €7 via SMS the number is 5061 8922.
