Melita Capital’s shareholders are to inject €4.5 million in cash for the continued operation and development of its mobile business in Malta, operated by Melita Mobile, the company said last week.

Less than two years since launching a nationwide 3G mobile network, Melita Mobile is Malta’s fastest growing mobile operator.

Melita said this additional equity will be used to fund the growth of the mobile operation. Significant improvements in quality of mobile services have already been registered, with an increased customer satisfaction rate reflected directly as consistent growth in both subscribers and minutes of usage. Melita has also restructured its businesses and created a holding company which now owns all the various companies operating under the Melita brand.

Group chief executive officer Andrei Torriani said the company was pleased to publicly share the news that the shareholders were highly encouraged by its success and growth in the mobile market.

The operating companies owned by the newly-formed holding company include Melita plc, Melita Capital plc, Melita Media Ltd, Melita Infrastructure Ltd and Melita Mobile Ltd.
