Updated: - Balzan Youths FC this evening disclaimed any link with Fabio Psaila, who was arraigned in court yesterday to face 27 charges including involvement in the HSBC Qormi heist and the hold-up on jeweller Michael Mizzi.
The club noted that for his arraignment, Mr Psaila wore a club tracksuit which was used in the 2003/2004 season.
It said that Mr Psaila was never a member of the squad. He never had technical responsibility and was never a member of the club.
Mr Psaila, 36 of Sta Venera, was back in court this morning to face the additional charge of breaching bail conditions while he was on the run.
He pleaded not guilty to having failed to sign the bail book at a police station. The bail had been granted in 2008 when he had been arraigned over a number of cases.
Mr Psaila turned himself in some two weeks after the police declared he was a wanted man. The police also issued pictures of him but by the time he was arraigned yesterday, he had taken on a new appearance, having grown a beard.
