A spate of remarkable results were recorded last weekend at the Bidnija Airgun Ranges during another shoot organised by the Malta Shooting Sport Federation.

Marianna Kisvardai lit up the air-rifle competition.

The Hungarian-born target shooter, now residing in Malta, made her debut at Bidnija with a record score of 383/400 (and a 577/600).

William Vella also turned in a strong performance as he achieved a solid 574/600 to finish ahead of Lawrence Darmanin (545) and Michael Xuereb (517).

Vella hit top form in the air-rifle final to grab first place with his very last shot, edging Kisvardai by a mere 1.1 points.

In air-pistol, Eleanor Bezzina produced a personal best shoot for an excellent 371/400.

Unfortunately, the cold weather on the day undermined Bezzina’s performances as she faltered in her last two sets to finish with a total of 543/600.

Bezzina eventually settled for a place behind Ray Cacciattolo who hit 550 to take top spot. Martin Grech was third with 506.

Gino Galea was the judge of these competitions, held in front of a sizeable crowd at the Bidnija ranges.
