The Medicines Authority bagged three honours at the Malta People Awards, placing first among over 20 companies.
The authority was recognised for employee engagement, the level of excellence it registers in the learning and development of its employees and for offering equal opportunities.
The awards, organised by the Foundation for Human Resources Development, acknowledge and reward good practice and quality initiatives in human resource management and development.
The authority was honoured for engaging its employees in the organisation’s overall strategy and operations, involving its staff in decision-making and conducting a staff satisfaction survey on a regular basis to identify the needs and expectations of its people.
It invested in two twinning projects with European medicine agencies to ensure staff are trained to the highest standards in medicines regulation. Training needs of all staff are analysed at least once a year and the authority develops training and development priorities on a yearly basis to ensure training needs are met in line with its resources. It also collaborates with training institutions and other medicines agencies to provide training opportunities.
The authority was also recognised for equal opportunities because it grants opportunities independent of age, sex, gender, race and religion. Recruitment and promotions are based on meritocracy and performance.
