10 cannabis plants found at Tarxien residence

Two people have been arrested by the police following a cannabis find at Tarxien earlier today.

The police said they received information that cannabis plants were probably being grown at a residence in Tarxien.

On searching the place, the police found 10 plants of different sizes being grown in the bathroom, as well as several pieces of cannabis resin and other objects related to drug trafficking and abuse.

The police arrested a 21-year-old man who lived at the residence and his 19-year-old girlfriend, who lives in Tarxien.

Duty magistrate Anthony Vella is holding an inquiry.

What proper way then? Just before driving as many do in Malta? Last year, 38,000 were caught drug driving, the majority drugged up on cannabis. They use handheld devices which hopefully will be brought into Malta during the next 6-12months together with a new breed of alcohol breathalysers. Not a moment too soon to save the many lives that will be ruined if this didn't take place.

Just to update that the 38,000 were in Germany. It's the exact kind of disciplined enforcement that is needed in Malta, starting with 6 months of zero tolerance.

@C Cassar
I agree that smoking (cannabis) and driving is as dangerous as drinking and driving. However we did not prohibit alcohol because it is dangerous before driving. Same should be done for cannabis. Any yes if there are devices to check if a person is driving under its influence they should be used.

However this has nothing to do with legalizing (and I'm talking complete legalization not decriminalization)
