Young man injured in car crash
A young man was injured this afternoon when he crashed his Landrover into trees on the road that leads from Xemxija to Ghajn Tuffieha after suffering from chest pains.
An ambulance and the Civil Protection were called on site to provide the necessary assistance.
The man is currently on the way to hospital.

@Jason Fenech we catholics don't normally pray for a TV or to win the lottery. Erm surely mother teresa didn't do that. Can't picture her doing that anyway. I wonder what makes you so angry when God comes into the picture. Your atheist comment wouldn't have bothered me at all until you started making a fool out of our religion. Maybe you're not an atheist but just angry at the Catholic belief.

@ R E Saliba: A wish is a sentiment or an expression of good will (or negative ). Religion does not come into play. It's not a prayer. The power of the mind too can have positive or negative effects especially in groups.

@ Jason Mizzi Very well expressed. Most times believing in deities and relying on them is a human way to mentally distress. I do too wish this young man a good recovery.

As your mr mizzi said " it is obvious........" Wonder why you had to write your last sentence.
Sorry to have caused any mental distress to such a highly clever brain.

I think if the intervention of God is needed, he would avoid having the young man crashing into trees in the first place...........just a thought.

It's easy to cynically spoof someone who means well and who has faith.
Yet John Muscat was the only one to wish the young man well.

@R. E. Saliba. Isn't this a space where one can express his or her own views? I expressed my point of view about the non sense of involving deities in this tragic story. Also i think it is obvious that anyone reading this story wishes the boy a speedy recovery.

@Jason Mizzi
I'm afraid it is not obvious since your comment addressed only the issue of religion... but I'm sure your wishes are now appreciated.
One assumes you are an atheist?
I wonder how an atheist can wish something without believing that the wish can be granted.

@ Sailba
Because, in our case, wishing has nothing to do with religious belief. I wish I had the money to buy a 52" LED 3D TV this Christmas but I don't. So I just go ahead and save until I can realize my wish. I am entitled to call it a wish, am I?
Of course if I were a believer, I'd pray and pray until the TV magically materializes in my living room or better still I win the Super 5. Of course I would not forget to thank god for favouring me over others.
Here's a quick question for you. Without implying anything about this case, what if this person was driving recklessly and injured someone else in the process, someone close to you perhaps; would you honestly still wish him a speedy recovery? I wouldn't.

"I wonder how an atheist can wish something without believing that the wish can be granted."
What kind of silly comment is that? Just because someone does not believe in something for which there is zero evidence, doesn't mean one cannot hope. I, for example, hope that one day the zealots will stop trying to stuff their flawed morality down someone else's throat.

@ Jason Fenech
You know little about faith and sadly many others share your level of knowledge. A person with faith does not pray to win the lottery unless the winnings are truly needed. Praying for a TV is banal.
As for your question, I wouldn't wish the driver speedy recovery had he hurt a relative of mine. This because I would not be able to genuinely wish it, because I am human like you are. I fail to see your point unless you believe that those with faith are superhuman.
@ Peter Korsten
Rather less silly than a comment which refutes 2000 years of controversial evidence and the lack of insight into the true origin of 'hope'. If you think I'm a zealot, you need to get out a little more, although I daresay the true problem resides with your perception of my comment.
