Two men and a woman are helping the police in their investigations into the death of 80-year-old Rose Garroni, who was left for dead on the doorstep of her apartment in Dingli Circus, Sliema last week. She died in hospital late on Tuesday.
The police said this evening the two men were aged 30 and 29 while the woman was 21. They are from Cospicua, Birkirkara and St Paul’s Bay.
The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court in the coming days.
Following the incident, Ms Garroni, remained in a coma until she died.
She had been found unconscious in a pool of blood still clutching at the handle of what was left of her bag when it was probably ripped off her.
It is believed she may have been pushed to the ground in a bag-snatching attack.
In the attack, Ms Garroni’s hip was broken in three parts; she suffered a broken femur and a massive head trauma. Doctors had tried to remove a blood clot from her head but her chances of survival were remote.
