Around €1,000 in cash as well as a number of cheques were stolen in a hold-up at De Rohan Pharmacy in St Anthony Street, Zebbug, at around 11.30 a.m.

The police said that a 58-year-old woman from Zebbug and the pharmacist, a 41-year-old woman from Sliema, were at the pharmacy during the hold up, carried out by a hooded man who had a firearm.

The thief left the pharmacy on foot. No one was injured.

Duty magistrate Giovanni Grixti appointed experts to help in an inquiry.
