A modern fairytale for the young and the young at heart: Based on music in Schumann’s Album for the Young comes an animated musical narrative about a little orphan girl Tramuntana, a mysterious Wild Rider and the cruel mayor of the village Mr Xlokk. XFM 100.2 presents Piazza Tigne Unplugged

The Malta Council for Culture and the Arts will be organising the following activities for this festive season in Valletta.

  • Tomorrow Christmas programme and varied activities with the participation of bands, dancers, singers and animators in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund in the Palace courtyard between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.
  • Tomorrow Official opening of Milied Flimkien by HE George Abela President of Malta, the Hon. Lawrence Gonzi Prime Minister, HE Mons. Paul Cremona OP Archbishop of Malta and the Hon Dr Joseph Muscat leader of the Opposition at the Palace Courtyard at 6 p.m.
  • December23 The Malta Police Band: Quick march in Republic and Merchants Streets followed by a concert with local singers at Great Siege Square at 11 a.m.
  • December 23 National Baby Jesus procession in Merchants and Republic Streets followed by a socio-religious programme by the Society of Christian Doctrine (MUSEUM) in Great Siege Square at 6 p.m.
  • December24 Christmas programme by the Band of the Armed Forces of Malta and local singers in Great Siege square at 11 a.m.
  • December24 March in Republic Street and annual Christmas concert by the Malta Police Band with the participation of local singers at Great Siege Square at 6 p.m.

Marie Therese Vassallo Voice Studio is keeping its annual Christmastide appointment by presenting a programme of Christmas music in the Parish Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Balluta Bay at 7.15 p.m.

Milied Mellieħi

Mellieħa Council is organising a week of Christmas activities, in aid of Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, in Mellieħa’s Main Square. The family-friendly activities will include music and art activities as well as an exhibition of cribs. There will also be stands selling books and jewellery, as well as traditional Christmas food, such as imbuljuta, mulled wine, honey rings and imqaret. There will be a play area for children as well as live music and all activities will take place under a large tent. Entrance is free.

The St Andrew's Club in a joint effort with the Lija local council, is organising the 5th edition of the Live Crib which is held in St Andrew's Street, Lija. The crib is open between 5.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays including Christmas Day.

Scrooge – A Christmas Panto

This Christmas MADC’s Panto will be staged at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre, MFCC, Ta’ Qali. This annual pantotakes on Charles Dicken’s classic story of A Christmas Tale. The script is by Alan Montanaro, who is also donning the push-up bras and high heels of the Dame this year. Scrooge is played by Colin Willis, the baddie Mach A. Villain is played by Adrian Gatt and Isabel Warrington plays Mrs Cratchitt. The director is Nanette Brimmer.

Dingle Bells Malcolm Smells: A night of adult Christmas comedy!

Malcolm Galea, Chris Dingli and Wesley Ellul perform Dingle Bells Malcolm Smells as an adult comedy alternative to the Christmas pantomime.
