A 60-year-old man was held up by an armed and hooded man who made off with under €1,500 in cash from a Santa Venera lotto office yesterday, the police said.

The hold-up took place at about 5.30 p.m. in Il-Kapillan Mifsud Street.

The police established the robber, dressed in black, walked into the lotto booth and pointed a gun at the lotto receiver. The robber then walked away with the money.

No one was injured in the incident.

Magistrate Anthony Vella carried out an onsite inquiry.
