Christ ordered us to “love one another as I have loved you” and to “love thy neighbour as thyself”. “When I was naked, you clothed me! When I was thirsty you gave me to drink! When I was hungry you fed me!”
These are the rules of Christianity. When you see someone hobbling along the road or even worse, in a wheelchair, why don’t you thank Him for feet that work? When you see a blind person say “thank You for my eyes that see” and take a look at the flowers created by Him. Do not take your senses for granted as they are a gift from Him.
This Christmas stop and say a prayer of thanks to all the people who are at work while we spend the day with our loved ones. The police, doctors, nurses, ambulance men, fire brigade, etc. Has anyone ever stopped to thank them for doing what they call “their duty” instead of complaining? If you have lunch in a restaurant, why not thank the staff for working to provide you with an enjoyable meal or day?
Remember that He was born in a stable all forlorn while we were born in care and comfortable surroundings. Think of Our Lady with contractions on the back of a donkey! You were put in a cradle but Christ was placed in a manger!
So make this a different Christmas and appreciate just how lucky we are!
