Cardiac Intensive Care Unit wins Castille Resources Excellence Award

Arthur Muscat awarded the Life Time Achievement Award

The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Mater Dei Hospital has won the Castille Resources Excellence Award during the Malta People Awards 2010. The Foundation for Human Resources Development said that there was a sense of commitment by all the staff of the unit together with pride in work.

Mario Ellul, nursing officer of the unit received the award from Claire Barbara IT managing consultant of Castille Resources, the official sponsors of the event.

FHRD president John Muscat Drago said that the 20th anniversary of the Foundation was being celebrated with a record participation of companies coming from the public, private and not for profit organisations. There were 35 submissions for the awards that were evaluated by 31 trained HR professionals.

Reporting on the submissions received, FHRD chief executive Joe Gerada said that the quality of the submissions showed that there were people with ambition, vision and competence raring to succeed.

The new Life Time Achievement Award was awarded to Arthur Muscat, company secretary of Simonds Farsons Cisk plc. It was presented to him by the president-elect of the European Association for People Management Filippo Abramo. Mr Muscat was described as a visionary and a pioneer in HR in Malta who has set an example of good HR practices spanning more than 40 years of work.

The Go plc People Management Impact on Business Success Award went to FTIAS Ltd.

The Malta International Airport Employee Engagement Award went to Gozo General Hospi-tal, Green Skip Services and GS REC Ltd. and Medicines Authority.

The Malta Information Technology Agency Excellence Through Technology Award went to Enemalta Corporation. The Actavis Learning and Development Award went to Allied Newspapers Ltd., Bank of Valletta plc, Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Centrecom, Chetcuti Cauchi, Deloitte, Enemalta Corporation, Island Hotels Group Holdings plc, the Malta Police Force and the Medicines Authority.

The Simonds Farsons Cisk plc Performance and Reward Award went to Enemalta Corporation, Maltapost p.l.c. and Playmobil Malta Ltd.

The Ministry of Education, Employment and the Family Equal Opportunities Award went to Enemalta Corporation and the Medicines Authority.

The APS Bank plc Corporate Social Responsibility Award went to Deloitte, HSBC Bank Malta plc, Radisson Blu Resort and Spa Golden Sands and Simonds Farsons Cisk plc.
