Three Żurrieq Wolves athletes, Joe Saliba, Pawlu Camilleri and Doreen Vella, took part in the first Catania Half Marathon, held last Sunday.

Strong winds and cold weather posed an added challenge to the participants but the Żurrieq runners were in good form, especially Saliba who completed the race in 1hr 15mins 11secs to claim third place overall.

Camilleri, who is also the Żurrieq Wolves head coach, clocked 1:24.30. He was second in the over-50 category.

After taking a 12-month break from athletics to give birth to a baby girl, Vella looks to be back to her best. She ran the race in 1:28:57, finishing sixth overall in the women’s field and first in the U-35 category.
