Japan’s robot suit venture Cyberdyne president and University of Tsukuba professor Yoshiyuki Sankai (centre) introducing the Hybrid Assistive Limb robot suit at the company’s studio in Tsukuba city, suburban Tokyo. The suit is designed to learn the user’s motion or gait and to assist the wearer’s movement. Cyberdyne plans to start leasing a full-body version for caregivers next year, which assists both arms and legs and allows users to carry a load of up to 70 kilos with one arm.
