Obituary

BORG. On December 11, Wilfred, aged 60, from Rabat, passed away at Mater Dei Hospital comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Mary Rose née Muscat, his son Stephen and his wife Joanna, his mother Maria Dolores, widow of Aronne, his grandchildren Matthew and Angie, his siblings Maryjo and her husband Walter Borg, Ronald and his wife Joyce, uncles and aunts, relatives of his wife, nephews, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital to St Paul’s church in Rabat today at 9.30 a.m., where Mass praesente cadavere takes place at 10 a.m., followed by interment at the Saint Margaret Cemetery in Rabat. The family regrets that it cannot receive visitors at home, and requests that instead of flowers, charitable donations to the Hospice Movement be made instead. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Proofreading course

The Maltese Department at the University of Malta in collaboration with Il-Kunsill Nazzjonali tal-Ilsien Malti is organising the sixth course of Certificate in Proofreading Maltese. The one-year, part-time university course will start in February 2011 and consists of two three-hour sessions per week.

Blood donation

The mobile blood donation unit will be available for blood donation next to Kalkara parish church, today, from 8.30 a.m. till 1.30 p.m.

L’Isle Adam Band 150th anniversary concert

The L’ Isle Adam Band Club in Rabat is bringing its 150th anniversary festivities to a close with a vocal and instrumental concert on Monday at St Agatha’s Auditorium in Rabat.

The band will open the concert with a piece composed by maestro Joseph Galea, which will take the audience through a journey of the main events throughout its 150 years of musical existence.

Various pieces of music from famous operettas like the Aida, Prince Igor, Cavalleria Rusticana, Iris, and La Traviata will be played by the band. Accompanying the band will be the Collegium Musicum Choir directed by maestro Dion Buhagiar, with soprano Karen Camilleri, tenor Charles Vincenti and baritone Joe Huber. The concert will be hosted by Charles Abela Mizzi. The concert will be held at 7 p.m. under the patronage of Rabat mayor Alexander Craus. The public is invited to be seated by 6.45 p.m.
