What circus animals can’t tell you
I am a protester and will keep on protesting till the circus stops coming to Malta. Well done to everyone who came to the protest.
I can’t believe people are so ignorant and still close their eyes to animal abuse in circuses. It’s a fact that these animals are abused – whether physically or mentally it remains abuse. Making animals like tigers do stupid tricks is inhumane as these animals are not like the domestic dog which wants to learn and keep busy. Tigers perform tricks because they are forced to not because they want to. Living in a cage is no freedom; it is not “like a human in its house”, as someone said. We can leave when we please but animals in circuses can’t.
We need to educate our children about circuses and the abuse, not lie that circuses don’t harm their animals. People need to open their eyes and see the truth: circuses are cruel.

@J farrugia....I am a vegetarian, I love animals, and I didn't protest aginst the circus. If animals are raised with love and fair treatment i dont see anything wrong with the circus...But, Mr Farrugia, the fact remains that sometimes are treated cruelly, they are seen not as fellow-living creatures but as a source of profits; in that case, people have a right to protest. Animals have rights and defending those rights is the duty of every civilized person; one should not decribe that as an 'unjust cause'. mr farrugia, what if the animals are underfed, kept in dirty crowded conditions, what if an animal is beated amd whipped to learn a trick? this cannot be ignored just so you can have fun --- you end up being like the roman spectators in the colosseum for whom the gladiator had no rights and was there just to provide entertainment. please, dont say they were human! Animals have rights! and that's why the old cage type zoos are being phased out for the open-area types. I understand your point of view, but you should repect Ms Peschel's

you are a protestor and I hate those who protest against circuses with animals.. You cannot stop me from seeing and enjoying with MY WHOLE FAMILY the animal circus. yet I can stop you from protesting when my rights are being molested. And I will take all legal action against persons like you who try to stop me from having together WITH MY WHOLE FAMILY, unlike you, an enjoyable show at the circus. And the majority of the people will see this show while you and your ilk will remain at home crying and shedding crocodile tears for an unjust cause.

ok J.Farrugia we got your point......you got a WHOLE FAMILY and u like to enjoy time with your WHOLE FAMILY and you like to be together with your WHOLE FAMILY. ok point taken....and its nice to be with your WHOLE FAMILY. Well done and keep it up! But you have a long way to go to convince us of what you wrote!! You are the usual typical stereotype person who knows only to make threats to others when confronted with an idea that does not conform with your own!! Most people out there know that keeping animals in very small cages to perform in circuses constitutes a violation to the freedom of these majestic wild animals....but many are not courageous enough to voice their opinion. But things are changing even though slowly!! The new generation are being educated and are all well aware of cruelty in animal circuses. I am sure animal circuses will not be seen on this island in a couple of years time. Mark my words. But you still can enjoy doing other things with your whole family dont worry

J, Farruga, for good measure, why don't you and your whole family go to the circus and perform yourselves, to be more at one with the circus? Believe me, from your words, people will not stop entertaining themselves. Much better than having four-legged animals there. (To Moderator: U ghall-imhatra din ma ggibhiex?!)
