No to fireworks factory

There can be few safer sites for a fireworks factory than this one. If residents apply 'nimby' to such sites then they are increasing the use of other less safe sites. That does not matter to them - such sites are not in Gharb - but are you sure?

If it as a matter of having a firework factory means just that, that should not bother anyone, and any volunteer who wants to sacrifice his or her life for the sake of a hobby, will have a choice but as can be confirmed by the many fireworks factories that blow up year after year which clearly confirms that the distance where any safe housing can be built within the factory has to be quite substantial to make them safe, which means that a substantial amount of land cannot be developed and when you look at the restricted size of our Islands, this is a serious problem and will get worse as years go by!

Let alone the matter of the Children that are orphaned, or wives who are made widows by this extremely dangerous hobby which some people call a sport!

Yes, if we really live in a democracy, then the residents of any locality should be able to decide what could maime or kill them, some of these fireworks factories are built too close to residences or roads leading to residences for comfort!

Gharb has started the way through a referendum , let us now see if other Councils will follow suit!
