The Zazu Football School (ZFS) are looking forward to the remainder of the season with greater optimism after securing a significant boost in the shape of a one-year sponsorship deal with Michael Attard Limited, local agents of French carmaker Peugeot.

Michael Attard Limited have been helping the ZFS for a number of years but this season, the company decided to go one step further by becoming the school’s main sponsors.

Explaining the company’s decision to align itself with the ZFS, Michael Attard, director of Michael Attard Limited, said: “We recognise the benefits of promoting sports in the Maltese society. A few years ago, Peugeot were the title sponsors of the Maltese women’s basketball league.

“Sports participation is conducive to a healthy lifestyle and helps to keep our children away from bad habits. The Zazu Football School is the biggest football school on the Maltese islands. We chose to support a vibrant organisation, one that encourages children to develop their talent in a safe and enjoyable environment.

“Without support from the business community, sports organisations like the Zazu Football School would find it very difficult to prosper because the local market is small and the expenses high.”

Established in 2004 by former Malta U-21 coach Ray Farrugia, the ZFS has grown into one of the leading football schools on the Maltese islands.

Training sessions, held daily at the San Ġwann FC ground, are designed to suit the varying needs of the participants in the different age-groups (four to 14 years).

Farrugia’s unwavering efforts to take his school forward have earned him the admiration of Attard who is willing to maintain his backing for the ZFS.

“As long as Ray (Farrugia) continues to run his school with such enthusiasm and vigour, we will continue to support him,” Attard said.
