Fino, together with Veneta Cucine and Electrolux, has organised the first of a series of design thinking workshops at the Fino Showplace in Mrieħel. The event was chaired by Maltese veteran architect Paul Camilleri.
Over 50 local designers and architects had the opportunity to share their experiences and views on modern design and to follow presentations by four of the best Italian designers, who were especially brought over for the event – Paolo Rizzatto, Stefano Giovannoni, Dante Donegani and Giovanni Lauda.
Fino’s marketing team converted the Fuori Salone area, which previously formed part of the old Fino factory, into a charming dining hall where all attendees had lunch prior to the workshop.
Through an illustration of some of their best work, Rizzatto, Giovannoni, Donegani and Lauda explained the thinking process, saying designers need to be able to design products not just for the sake of marketing but for the relationship that brings together locations, objects, experiences and communications to act as an interactive catalyst to people’s emotions.
Giovannoni said “design today is a process for which multifaceted and multi-talented capabilities are required so as not to favour function over emotions and vice-versa”. This workshop, the first of many, offered designers the privilege to network with their peers and to learn more from some of the top designers in the industry.
