Local logistics company Express Trailers achieved a first today when it drove two trailers onto a giant Antonov 124 cargo plane for shipment to Libya.

Previous cargo from Malta consisted of smaller consignments.

A spokesman said the company had handled the transport of large steel structures which arrived from Asia for onward shipment to Libya.

The Antonov 124 is the second biggest cargo plane in the world and has the unique ability of being able to 'kneel' - lowering its front wheels for easier access to cargo through the nose section.
